Installation:
Surfaces to receive Mortar Mix should be clean and free of dirt, loose debris, grease, oil, etc., for the best possible bond. Add 7-8 Litres of clean water into 50 kg of Renafix Cement Mortar mix in a container/bowl and mix well until reach to the workable condition. If required add additional water to reach required workability and consistency of wet mortar mix. Apply a full bed of mortar onto the base, approximately 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch (12 mm to 18 mm) thickness. Push downward into the mortar bed and sideways against the previously laid block with a slight twisting motion. Tool the mortar joints when they become thumbprint hard. This will make the mortar joint watertight and provide a neat appearance. Cure the wall with water into two times for 5 -7 days then allow for plastering.

Surface Preparation:
Surfaces should be structurally sound, clean and free of all dirt, oil, grease, loose peeling paint, laitance, concrete sealers or curing compounds. Dry, dusty concrete slabs or masonry should be dampened and excess water swept off.

Mixing:
Place clean, potable water into a clean pail. Add thin set powder into the pail. Use approximately 5 – 6 L of water for 20 kg of powder. Mix by hand or with a slow speed mixer to a smooth, trowel able consistency. Allow adhesive to slake for 5-10 minutes. Adjust consistency if necessary. Remix and apply with the proper sized notched trowel.

Application:
Apply adhesive to the substrate with the flat side of the trowel, pressing firmly to work into surface. Comb on additional adhesive with the notched side. Use the proper sized notched trowel to ensure full bedding of the tile. Spread as much adhesive as can be covered with tile in 10 minutes. Back butter large tiles (> 12”x12”) to provide full bedding and firm support. Place tiles into the wet, sticky adhesive and beat in using a beating block and rubber mallet to embed tile and adjust the level. Check adhesive for complete coverage by periodically removing a tile and inspecting bedding adhesive transfer onto back of the tile. If adhesive is skinned over (not sticky), remove and replace with fresh adhesive. It is recommended to use spacers to create joints between tiles and subsequently fill the joints with Renafix tile grout.

Renafix 300S Unsanded Grout is a polymer modified grout consisting of a carefully prepared blend of Portland cement, Chemical additives, and filters. Designed as a single component, just and portable water.  It is highly suited for grouting porous and absorbent tiles.

Features:
  • Suitable for walls and floors
  • Suitable for interior and exterior use
  • Suitable for intermittently wet and dry conditions
  • Used in kitchens, bathrooms and showers
  • Constraints: Not suitable if grout is required to be chemically-resistant or completely impermeable.

Application Methodology:
Surface Preparation:

Before starting to grout remove spacers and debris in grout joints and remove dust and dirt using a wet sponge. Do not leave water standing in joints. Room temperature must be between 4 deg C and 32 deg C. Apply grout release or sealer if necessary.

Mixing:
Use approximately 300 ml of water 10kg of Renafix tile grout powder. Place portable water in a clean mixing container and add grout powder slowly. Mix by hand or with a slow speed mixer to a smooth stiff consistency. Allow slaking for 5-10 minutes and remix.

Application:
Dampen tile surface with water. Spread with a sharp, firm rubber grout float. Work the grout paste into the joints until completely filled. Use diagonal strokes to pack the joints. Ensure that the joint is filled and grout is not just sitting on top (i.e. “bridging the joint”).

Grout Primary Cleaning:
Remove excess grout from the face of the tiles with the edge of the grout float. Hold the float at a 90-degree angle and pull it at a 45-degree angle diagonally across the joints and tile to avoid pulling out the material.

Grout Secondary Cleaning:
Remove remaining grout with a damp sponge (not wet) or a damp towel. Work diagonally to the joints. Allow drying. When the grout joints are firm, polish the surface with a coarse nylon pad or coarse cloth and minimal water.

Joint Width: 1 to 5 mm

Dense surface:

Coloured surface:

Easy application at time of placing concrete:
Floor available for full service once concrete is cured.

Application Methodology:
It is recommended that the floor be marked off into bays of known area. Sufficient material should be laid out to meet the required spread rates. Application of Rena Top Hardener can begin when the base concrete has stiffened to the point when light foot traffic leaves an imprint of about 3mm. Any bleed water should by now have evaporated. Renafix Floor Top is applied in two stages.

  • The first application is made using 50% to 70% of the total material. Rena Top Hardener is evenly broadcast onto the concrete surface. When the material becomes uniformly dark by the absorption of moisture from the concrete this first application can be floated. Wooden floats or, on large areas, the power trowel with disc may be used. It is important, however, that the surface is not over worked.
  • Immediately after floating, the remaining Rena Top Hardener is sprinkled evenly over the surface. Again moisture is absorbed and the surface can be floated in the same way as before. Final finishing of the floor using a power trowel can be carried out when the floor has stiffened sufficiently so that damage will not be caused.
